Hey there, I’m Sarah!

Hello, it is such a pleasure to meet you! My name is Sarah and I am the owner of Heritage Consulting STL.

My focus is on providing support, empowerment, advocacy, and education to nurture families through their preconception journey into birth and through their fourth trimester. I specialize in in-hospital, high risk, VBAC, trauma informed, following infertility or loss, and bereavement, but I offer my services to all women and families across the Saint Louis metro area.

I offer individualized support starting with (in)fertility, during pregnancy, while attending birth, and through the fourth trimester. In addition, services are offered to families grieving the passing of their little one through miscarriage, stillbirth, or the unexpected loss of their precious child.

There are classes available for both parents and birth professional peers on a wide variety of topics.

As an accomplished doula currently serving as the President of Doulas of Greater St. Louis, I have over a decade of experience assisting several hundred families. I have attended specialized trainings including Stillbirthday, PAILAdvocate, Maternal Mental Health NOW, Bebo Mia, Birth Monopoly, VBAC Facts, and Evidence Based Birth, in addition to various ongoing education opportunities. My goal is to give you and your family the attention, support and knowledge you need to make informed decisions on your unique journey.

As both a bereaved and a rainbow mom myself after both primary and secondary infertility, I pull from my own experiences as a mother, and from my knowledge, experience, and training as a doula to better assist the families I serve.

Every journey, pregnancy, birth, death, and story, is unique. I look forward to learning yours and celebrating your strengths, and I am honored to be invited into your most intimate spaces of grief.

Best wishes,

Sarah

Our ethos

We believe all life is sacred and a gift from God, and should be protected and celebrated as such. There is a unique power and energy shared by a mother and her unborn child. It is our honor and duty to protect this sacred force, shared by two (or more) souls sharing the same space.

Allowing birth to unfold as nature intended when there is no cause for medical interventions, ensures we minimize interruptions and decrease potential complications through the birth process.

When medical intervention or management is necessary, it is our duty to provide explanations in such a way that parents can be informed and give their educated consent to what is happening in their birth story. We must protect the physical and emotional health and wellbeing of all involved in a manner that minimizes risks and protects autonomy, while honoring the mother/baby dyad, and those who support them.

All birth is beautiful whether you have an unmedicated or induced vaginal delivery, utilize an epidural, have an assisted delivery, or give birth through a Cesarean. All babies deserve to be celebrated - including those little ones who do not get to stay with us long enough or who we do not get to meet earth side - with dignity and love.

Postpartum, parenting, and the challenges it brings, should be filled with unbiased, "meet you where you are", biologically aware, parent/baby centered, support and education.

Our history

Sarah originally started out offering (in)fertility and bereavement doula support in 2010, after the tragic and unexpected loss of her first child during the second trimester. Over the years, she has expanded to prenatal, birth, and postpartum doula support. Sarah also offers newborn care classes, childbirth education, babywearing education, peer lactation support, and biologically normal infant sleep education.

Sarah has taken many specialized trainings including a special focus on high risk pregnancies, infertility treatments, bereavement support, how to be a trauma informed and aware support professional, additional training on mood disorders and how they affect pregnancy, birth, and the fourth trimester, and vaginal birth after Cesarean (VBAC). In addition, she is a Birth Monopoly, VBAC Facts and Evidenced Based Birth professional member, to better advocate for you to receive the highest level of care available. Her professional memberships allow her to stay up to date on the most recent research and how it affects your birth rights.

Sarah has made the personal decision to not certify with any one organization, as she wishes for the professional freedom to support the families exactly how they need her, without any restraints or restrictions. This allows her to focus on helping families exactly how they need it, instead of how an organization dictates support must look.

We believe that every family deserves the right tools and support to have a fulfilling experience through their parenting journey. Sarah specializes in hospital settings but also attends births at the Mercy Birthing Center. Where you choose to welcome your baby is where she will be.

It is our honor to provide unbiased, evidence based, education and options, to the families we serve. Everyone’s path looks so different and it is unique to every individual family, so we thoroughly support and encourage finding the perfect doula and support person for your journey.

Sarah is a Southern Baptist and intertwines her faith into her support, if having a faith centered birth is important to you. However, being of similar faith is not a requirement to work together and she has supported many families from all walks of life and religious beliefs.
